PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Add color and comfort anywhere with our Foam Floor Mats 5/8 Premium products. These foam mats for kids are ideal for kids rooms, trade show booths, or indoor spaces that need a softer surface for work or playing. They are available in bright colors and feature a texture on one side and smoothness on the other. This provides freedom to decide which works best for any particular application.

Play and Exercise in Comfort and Safety
When kids are playing in a playroom, basement, or other space where you have a worry of falls causing injuries, our popular foam play mat product consists of EVA foam that delivers cushioning, making spaces safer.
The cushioned flooring also helps during workouts, where athletes want to protect their lower body joints from repetitive stress injuries that can occur on surfaces like concrete. Workouts are far more comfortable with this flooring.
The foam mat flooring protects the original floor from scratches during workouts, too.
Show Off Your Creative Side

Because our interlocking foam mats for kids are available in multiple bright and bold colors, you can show off your favorite design. Colors like red, yellow, blue, green, orange, pink, and more are available.
Create a floor with a single solid color, or mix and match colors for a fun design in a toddler’s bedroom or a kid’s bedroom, as all colors of this model of foam floor tiles use the same interlocking edge design.
We also offer the best neutral colors for spaces that need them, such as black, white, and more.

Save Money With a DIY Installation

Our foam mats for kids do not require glue or specialized tools to perform the installation. This means most customers can do a DIY job and do not need to pay extra for installers to help.
Each tile has an edge that resembles a jigsaw puzzle. One mat simply pops into the edge of the adjacent mat with only a little bit of force. The install process is simple enough that the kids can even help!
With such an easy installation process, these tiles work nicely for trade show flooring, as you don’t have to pay an installer.

Create a Finished Edge With Little Effort

To create a straight, finished edge on our foam mats for kids, we include two border strips with each tile as part of the order. The border strip has the same interlock edge as the main tile, making it easy to secure the edge.
If you need to fit these foam tiles for kids in a wall-to-wall installation, you may need to cut a tile to create a tight fit. Just use a sharp utility knife to slice through the foam and remove the puzzle edge, yielding a straight edge.

Disclaimer

Color variation is possible from lot to lot, even within the same order. Using a checkerboard or other multi-color pattern can help make this variation less noticeable.
Since the material is soft, furniture can indent the tiles but doesn't typically affect the use of the floor. You can use furniture coasters to help disperse the weight of the furniture.
Sharp objects such as high-heeled shoes and pet nails can puncture the foam, as it is a soft material.
Not recommended for use outdoors, as EVA foam will expand when exposed to direct sunlight and heat.
Existing mats may not interlock with new mats due to natural expansion and wear of used mats. Please contact customer service about any concerns.
Maintenance
Product can be damp mopped with common household floor cleaners; avoid bleach. Test your vacuum before use.

Shipping
Ships via ground service and may ship via freight delivery for larger orders via common carrier on a pallet.

Q&A
Q: Are play room mats PVC- and phthalate-free? Does the foam contain formaldehyde?
A: The manufacturer of our EVA foam tiles has provided us with a test that states that one sample of an EVA foam tile passed a test that stated the sample was free of formamide. We don't then state that all of our EVA foam tiles are formamide-free. The reason is that all the EVA foam tiles on the market are pretty much the same material. Formamide-free EVA tiles can not exist, but the formamide will dissipate over time, and one can get a passing test result after a few months of manufacturing.
Q: Is this product safe for babies?
A: This product will protect against any hard surface. The product is not tested for other safety features.
Q: I am looking for a product to install at a Day Care Center. The product should be heavy-duty and come in different bright colors. Suggestions?
A: We have various interlocking foam tiles which are very popular for daycare and childcare locations, however, the foam tiles are not designed for areas with tables and chairs. We have our StayLock line of flooring tiles which provide a 20-inch ASTM fall height rating and can be used with tables and chairs and are easy to clean and are very durable for a long period of time.
Q: Can your Foam Floor Mats 5/8 Premium be installed outside?
A: All foam tiles will expand and potentially deform when exposed to heat and direct sunlight, so we can not warranty the foam tiles outdoors. The tiles are waterproof and will not absorb moisture.
Q: Will bed frames ruin the floor mat? Do we need to put anything under the desk legs or bed frame legs to protect the floor?
A: Any small surface area that carries a load will indent the foam tiles. This can leave an almost permanent indentation, however, this will not damage the foam tile per se. You can use coasters under such feet or legs to disperse the weight of the furniture.
Q: Is this product safe to use on top of wooden floors? Will it stain or affect the finish on the wooden floors? Someone mentioned that there is a slippery coating on the tile as it comes out of the box.
A: The slippery coating mentioned may be on the top surface from the mold release agent, which can be cleaned off. The foam will act like a vapor barrier and may discolor polyurethane on wood floors, however, our experience is that this discoloring is temporary. You might consider a sheet of construction craft paper between the tiles and the wood floor.
Q: If you are not installing this wall-to-wall but only an area rug application, would they be slippery on a vinyl tile like a standard area rug?
A: Most likely not, the bottom of the foam tiles has a bit of a grip on hardwood and tile, so it can depend on the surface and the activity.
Q: Is this product safe to use on top of carpet? What would you recommend to place under foam?
A: The foam tiles will not hurt the carpet. The tiles may slip around depending on the size of the installation and the activities performed on top of the tiles. It's best to install these foam tiles on a hard flat surface for the tiles to have a good connection to the surface.
Q: Can I put an Adagio dance floor roll on top of these mats, or are they too soft?
A: These foam tiles are too soft for this, we recommend our Sport Designer Foam tiles for use as an underlayment under the Adagio marley vinyl material. The Sport Designer Foam is more firm.
Q: Could these be used as an underlayment for a click-together hardwood flooring to add cushion?
A: We don't recommend this as an underlayment for hardwood flooring.
Q: These will go in a basement gym. The cement floor has radiant heat; however, we never set the thermostat higher than 72 degrees. I'm wondering if this would be a problem regarding chemical gases. If this product is not appropriate, would PVC be a better option, or is there something else you could recommend? We do some P90X there.
A: These EVA/PE foam tiles are fine over in-floor heat, with no issues. For P90X, you might consider the 7/8 inch thickness Home Sport and Play Mats.
Q: Can this tile be used for a dog room? Will it get scratched, and if there are any messes will it soak through?
A: The foam tiles can be scratched with dog claws and will not absorb moisture. For more information on this topic, you may want to check out our Buyers Guide blog comparing rubber and foam flooring for dog areas.
Q: I have a home workshop (woodworking) on a concrete floor. This looks like the perfect material to place around my equipment to walk/stand on. The hard concrete is destroying my knees. Am I right?? Seem like a good application?
A: Yes, this product is a good anti-fatigue option for home workshops. You may be interested in seeing more information on workshop flooring in our Buyers Guide. This blog addresses workshop flooring features to look for.
Q: Are the edge pieces squared or beveled? Do you sell beveled-edge pieces or have mats that come with beveled-edge pieces?
A: In the foam tiles, we only have square edges.
Q: I'm looking for some mats that are chroma key green. Do you know of anyone using your lime green in that capacity with success?
A: We do have customers that use lime green for that purpose. For a more professional option, we have chroma key in commercial sheet vinyl.
Q: Our basement has sealed concrete, and it is my understanding that some materials (such as rubber) can potentially stick to the sealant. Can this happen with these EVA foam tiles, or are they okay to use on sealed concrete?
A: The foam tiles have not been known to stick to sealed concrete.
Q: I'm looking for mats to be used in our fitness room; do they have any odor like the rubber mats? I am trying to find an odorless product.
A: Finding a completely odorless product will be tricky. But, foam is a low-odor product. We also have PVC Plastic gym tiles. I suggest getting a sample before making a purchase.
Q: Is this soundproof? We are in an apartment and noise complaints when kids are jumping and running on the floor. Will these mats help?
A: These are not soundproof. But, they will help dampen the noise.
Q: Does the floor have to be perfectly flat or even? I will be going over broken asbestos tiles. So if the basement floor is not perfectly level, can I still use these?
A: This product is thick enough to hide minor imperfections in the subfloor. However, if there is a significant change in height in the subfloor at the seams, it may be reflected by one mat dropping lower than the adjacent one that is at a different level.
Q: Can these be connected to the Royal Interlocking Carpet Tiles (24 x 24)? In other words, do the interlocking tabs match up? We put the carpet tiles in the basement, and we want to make a non-carpeted area for the gym equipment.
A: Yes. These will interlock with the Royal Interlocking Carpet Tiles. Just be aware there may be a slight gap in the interlocks where dirt and debris collect and where the transition takes place between the foam tile and the carpet tile.
Q: Can a treadmill sit on the mats?
A: While it can, please understand that heavy exercise machines or furniture may cause the mats to indent slightly. This does not cause a loss of integrity.
Q: How do you “cut” to fit into corners?
A: A sharp utility knife with a new blade and a straight edge does the job nicely. This blog and video on how to cut foam floor tiles should prove useful.
Q: Can this product be installed on a concrete floor that has in-floor heat?
A: Yes. Be aware that you may find the mats expand some with the in-floor heat. It also may take a while for the heat to work its way through the foam, as EVA foam is a good insulator.
Q: Are these foam mats thick enough to support gym equipment, such as a Peloton bike, rowing machine, etc.?
A: We believe some of our other products would better suit your needs. Please view the following links for some suggestions, and feel free to reach out to us at 866-551-3664 to speak to a member of our sales team for further assistance. Home Sport and Play Mat or Gym Floor Workout Fitness Tile Pebble.
Q: What is the fall height protection? If a child falls off of equipment 3 to 4 feet high, will it protect their fall?
A: These tiles do not have a fall height rating. Our other product, Indoor Playground Foam Tiles, has a 4-foot fall height rating.
Q: Can these mats be used on concrete or the ground outside of a travel trailer?
A: They are waterproof but will fade with extended exposure to direct sunlight. A bigger issue may be the fact that they are lightweight and may not stay in place during strong winds.
Q: Can I mix mat mix colors?
A: Yes. These tiles are sold individually and you can order the exact amount of whatever colors that you want.
Q: One side is textured, and the other side is flat. Is one side meant to face up, or does that not matter? This will go on top of a concrete floor (think converted garage) and will cover the whole room.
A: One of the many benefits of the Foam Kids and Gym Mats Premium 5/8” is that you have the freedom to choose which side faces up. Most people use them thatched side up as it will offer more traction.
Q: Is this mat BPA-free?
A: These foam mats do not contain BPA.
Q: Is there an adhesive that can be used when installing these tiles to subfloor?
A: We recommend not adhering foam tiles to the subfloor.
Q: How do you recommend cleaning the foam mats? Can they be vacuumed? Can they be mopped? Will commercial cleaning products damage them?
A: These tiles can be vacuumed. The vacuum should be on the highest setting. We recommend testing your vacuum in an inconspicuous area first. Foam tiles can be damp mopped with a mild household cleaner. We would recommend testing any commercial cleaning products on the mats first. Do not use bleach.
